Off to Idyllwild

Tomorrow we were supposed to leave for Arizona to visit the Grand Canyon for a couple days, and then camp in Cottonwood for another three or four days.  That was until we discovered that the temperature in the Grand Canyon is supposed to be right under 100 degrees, and 103 in Cottonwood.  I have a high tolerance for hot weather, but leaving our triple digit paradise to vacation somewhere else that's equally hot seems to defeat the purpose.  So this morning we cancelled our reservations in Arizona and decided to go to Idyllwild instead.  I'm excited!  We planned out several fun activities, including a tram-ride up into the mountains and a day at the water park.  Plus the temp is supposed to be in the mid-80s, which is perfect for swimming, etc., but not overly hot.  I'll be sure to post some pics when we get back home.  Until then, whether you're in California, Kansas, Colorado, Texas--okay, this could go on for awhile--let's just skip the other ones and say have a great week!

  1. Ooh have fun! I completely see why you wouldn't want to trade one hot desert for another, especially if it's supposed to be a vacation! I have no idea where Idyllwild is, but 80 degree weather sounds like heaven! The weather channel says that we're having a horrible drought and that it's likely to continue all summer... I think I need a vacation to Idyllwild, too!!

  2. Idyllwild is south of Palm Springs, sort of cozied up into the San Jacinto mountains. Type it into a google image search, and you can see some pics of the area. It's really pretty. It's not quite as glamorous as going to the Grand Canyon since it's more local, but I still think we made a good decision switching our plans. Sorry that you guys are frying in TX right now!

  3. Hello, my friend! Are you home yet? How was it? Stupid question. It was great, I'm sure.

Hey, are you ready to talk shop? I have a couple questions. Call me when you have some time.

  4. Hey lady! We just got home about two hours ago. We had a great time! I'll be blogging about it sometime in the next couple of days.

Yep, I'm ready to start prepping for the new school year. My feet-dragging time is running out...time to face the inevitable. Blech. I'll give you a call tomorrow and we'll chat!
